Long Overdue Donation
I have been wanting to make this meager donation since January on behalf of my company. Due to some necessary business expenses throughout the year, I've had to postpone this until now. I'm finally able to do this and I'm honored to share this with you.
Backstory: I was working at my Vanguard Belts table at a local gun show late last year and I was approached by a representative of the Howlin Mad Detachment #93 Marine Corps League out of Merrillville with an offer to purchase a raffle ticket for a beautiful custom built sporting rifle. I buy gun raffle tickets so frequently that I don't even think about it anymore, so I happily obliged. I'm always up to support a good cause.
In this case, the cause was a fund raiser for a local veteran support organization known as Operation Combat Bikesaver. These men and women do terrific work to help local veterans by accepting donated funds and old motorcycles, and they assist a veteran by helping him/her build/rebuild/refurbish a motorcycle which he/she then gets to keep upon completion of the project. What a terrific way to show gratitude and support for veterans who have sacrificed so much for their country!
Anyway, long story short I got an unexpected phone call from Operation Combat Bikesaver in January to inform me that I was the lucky winner of the sporting rifle!
To be honest, I'd completely forgotten that I'd bought the ticket and was a little confused at first, but we got past that and I was thrilled to later claim the prize. What a beautiful firearm it is!
I made a vow that day to later make a small donation to Operation Combat
Bikesaver to show my appreciation for not only the sweet raffle prize, but also to support the work that they do.
Today is that day, and I hope you'll consider looking at this fine organization and donate to their worthy cause to help local veterans.
