Necessity -- The Mother of Invention
They say necessity is the mother of invention. After scouring the internet for a suitable spool/reel system to better manage and transport my loose rolls of belt material, I kept coming up empty.
When you can't find what you need, you just buckle down and build it.
The black reels are dirt cheap plastic film reels I found online with a little guidance from a Biothane makers group on Facebook. The PVC pipe cage in which they sit was my own design. When loaded with belt material, this thing is gonna be heavy as hell, but hopefully I can lift it and make it work.
The idea is to use this at gun shows and at my home workshop when I'm unspooling material to make belts. Up to now I've been carefully unspooling from loose rolls which is very clumsy and has the potential for the whole roll to unravel all over the place if not done in a controlled manner.
This contraption will hopefully make life a little easier at the shows I attend.
